Howdy, Apartment 2B followers!  We’ve been mysteriously promising “big news” for the past few months and are finally ready to spill the beans.  Apartment 2B Productions has started on our second feature film Ladybeard.  It’s about a stand-up comic named Andy, who pretends to date his best friend Michelle so she doesn’t have to come out to her parents.   (hence the title: Andy is a beard for a lady)

We’ve got a lot of rad people working on this project.  In addition to our dynamic filmmaking duo David Smith and Molly Tilly, we’ve got Chase Henderson on board as Director of Photography.   He’s in charge of Charleston’s Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, and you’ve seen his family’s cats in Escribitionist.   Toby Poole, the genius behind The Lords of Fun, is starring as Andy.  Michelle is played by Penny Maple, a mainstay of the Charleston film and theater communities as well as a frequent model for Dr. Sketchy’s.

We need some help with our budget on this one and are relying on the kindness of strangers (and friends and family and co-workers and that guy we met at a bar once).  We’ve launched an Indie GoGo page to help us out with sound equipment and other costs.  Any contribution get you access to a members-only Facebook group (Members Only jacket not necessary).   We don’t want to bombard you with updates during the production, and we figured this would be a good way to get news out to who wants it and keep spammage to a minimum.  Higher donations could get you anything from a Maneater DVD to a meal cooked by David Smith himself.  And as the campaign goes along, we might be offering random drawings and other incentives to get those wallets motivated.

Help us get the word out!  Send this to all your rich aunts who are interested in filmmaking or giving money to poor, weird bohemians.  And if you have some cash to spare, please considering making a donation.  Not to go all cliche on you, but every little bit helps.

XO
Molly Tilly
